This is a 9 years old boy who visited our clinic with a skeletal class 3 growth pattern (not very severe). Class 3 growth pattern means his lower jaw is growing faster and more than his upper jaw.
Causes can be:
excessive large mandible.
Forwardly placed mandible.
Smaller than the normal maxilla.
Retropositioned maxilla.
Combination of the above causes.
Lower incisors tend to be lingually inclined. The patient can present with a normal overjet, an edge-to-edge incisor relation, or an anterior crossbite. Narrow upper arch and more tongue space. We treated this patient with appropriate myofunctional appliances. Treatment carried out at an early stage avoids psychological disturbances. In an adult patient in whom growth has ceased, it may not be possible to achieve all the objective of function, esthetics, and stability that represents ideal dentition and occlusion.
The ideal age to visit an Orthodontist is between 8 to 12 years. For more info call at 9467021311
